El Nicho: symbol of ecology in Cienfuegos

El Nicho is an enclave of the Collantes Natural Park, 50 km away Cienfuegos port, south Cuba.

Its name derives from the flawless waterfall of crystalline water in the Hanabanilla river, but the area also offers an interesting natural trail of 1,5 kilometers, known as Reino de las Aguas (Water Kingdom). You can also swim in the natural pools, visit a cave, birdwatch, and taste the delicious dishes of the “ranchón” cuisine.

It´s beautiful waterfalls, underwater springs and abundant forest are an unique marvel of the Cuban nature.

An easy 10-minute walk takes you to the first set of falls, while an additional half-hour reveals additional cascades, along with beautiful views of the mountains and valleys of central Cuba.

Swimming is an inevitable fun after you follow the road to the blue-transparent natural pool.
